Dr. Alessandra Muntoni, Director of Research
Alessandra is a fully qualified Physician and a member of the Italian College of Specialists in Internal Medicine. Following a passion for research, Alessandra has completed further postgraduate training in Medical and Molecular Genetics, obtaining an MSc and a PhD from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
Alessandra moved to Australia in 2002 and spent six years researching the basic molecular mechanisms of Cancer at the Children’s Medical Research Institute in Westmead. As the recipient of an NHMRC fellowship, she has completed multiple research projects and published in the international press. She has also contributed to the research and development of new therapies in oncology and cardiovascular medicine through her six years in the pharmaceutical industry, and is a fellow of the Australasian College of Physician Executives.
Alessandra is very passionate about making an impact to patients’ lives, is a strong advocate of women’s rights, and has joined the National Breast Cancer Foundation to make an impact in our research footprint.
