So Brave 2017 Calendar
Rachelle Panitz, a breast cancer survivor, has brought together 11 other women affected by the disease to put together So Brave, a creative fundraising calendar where a portion of the purchase price is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Each month features each woman in full body paint and an amazing location around Australia. The artistry is brilliantly colourful and shows the strength of each woman, all of whom are younger breast cancer survivors with many still undergoing treatment.
The idea behind the calendar is to raise funds, and also awareness that breast cancer is not only an older women’s disease, but that #youngwomengetbreastcancertoo. In fact, in 2016, 800 women under 40 years old will be diagnosed with breast cancer. The National Breast Cancer Foundation is committed to funding breast cancer research and our goal is zero deaths from the disease by 2030.
The response from young breast cancer survivors for this project has been amazing and humbling. Equally so has the overwhelming support from the community who have volunteered their time, skills and venues to this worthy project.
So Brave was a big project involving 12 models, 14 photographers & editors, 5 documentary crew, a graphic designer, a brilliant bodypaint artist and her assistants, as well as many friends and families who all worked to put the calendar together.
