February 10th, 2013

NBCF is delighted to announce the winners of the 2012 Patron’s Awards which acknowledge and highlight the significant contribution and support of people and organisations around Australia to the breast cancer research cause.

This year, eight individuals who raised funds with the community, three researchers and 12 companies and organisations were recognised for their efforts at the annual ceremony which has been the NBCF premier event since 2004.

This year’s awards were hosted by Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales, and NBCF Patron, Sarah Murdoch, at Government House in Sydney.

In announcing this year’s award recipients, Ms Murdoch said the efforts of our individual and organisational supporters in raising funds and donating time, expertise, supplies and services to the cause were essential to NBCF achieving its goal of zero deaths by 2030 through impactful research.

Carole Renouf, CEO of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, also thanked the national award recipients as well as the wider community of NBCF supporters who continue to tirelessly and diligently devote time, effort and funds to help defeat breast cancer.

“NBCF is an organisation of 40 people with a big agenda to fulfil. In this room tonight are another 100 people who help us fulfil it. Around the country, are many more. As the song goes, ‘You are the wind beneath our wings’, and we could not fly without you,” Ms Renouf said.

“Thank you so very much to everyone from across the Australian community who supported us in 2012 and we hope that we can count on your continued support in 2013,”Ms Renouf said.
