Alternative Title: Preventing breast cancer with a non-hormonal, non-toxic drug
A novel anticancer agent with minimal toxicity has recently been described. This proposal will investigate a new application for this agent, testing it as a preventive agent for women at very high risk of developing breast cancer by testing it in a mouse model of the multiple tumour syndrome, Li-Fraumeni Syndrome.
The discovery of a low toxicity, non-hormonal drug, effective in breast cancer prevention would greatly improve the outlook and quality of life for women carrying mutations in breast cancer predisposition genes.
