Moonshine Agency and renowned documentary filmmakers Sue Collins and Mike Hill, harnesses the power of screen stories to create and share compelling global health narratives. With a steadfast commitment to making a positive impact on society, their mission is to craft unforgettable films that strengthen movements and contribute to creating a better world.
Cancer is the primary global cause of death, but there is a worldwide effort to eradicate it. Moonshine Agency has created the Conquering Cancer Campaign, a campaign which dares us to imagine the seemingly unthinkable - what if we could conquer cancer?
There are three film series part of the documentary series, each featuring inspiring medical professionals and researchers championing the global push to eliminate cancer; the policymakers who are bringing prevention programs to their regions and calling on worldwide action; and the people who have faced cancer head-on and have emerged furiously and are ready to act against this devastating disease.
The film examines the latest advances in breast cancer screening, prevention and treatment while asking a critical question - can Australia rise to the challenge of conquering breast cancer?
At National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) we believe we can. We are proud to back the ideas, innovation and the people who will help us achieve what once felt impossible – Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
We are getting closer to achieving this vision thanks to the collective efforts of many, and investment in world-class breast cancer research funded by NBCF, including the AllClear program featured in the Conquering Breast Cancer film.
An exceptional local and international collaboration led by Associate Professor Christine Chaffer at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research was funded by NBCF through our first Collaborative Research Accelerator (CRA) Grant.
AllClear brings together nearly 60 researchers across seven leading institutes including Yale and Washington University and 11 hospitals to understand why some breast cancer cells spread to places like the bone, lie dormant for years, and then reawaken as metastatic disease.
AllClear was funded through NBCFs inaugural CRA Grant; a landmark $25 million investment and the largest in our history.
The CRA grant marks a transformative turning point in breast cancer research – targeting one of the most urgent and unsolved challenges in breast cancer: how to stop the recurrence of breast cancer.
NBCF is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of this film alongside Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and to have our CEO, Dr Cleola Anderiesz featured in it. NBCF is connected with many people featured in the film:
