Dearest Courtney,
It’s been 10 years since you were diagnosed stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in 2019 at the age of 32. 11 years since that awful day. Two weeks before Emmerson’s 2nd birthday and you were told the cancer had not only come back but spread. How frightened you were as a single mum that your beautiful little boy might not have his mummy beside him every day. How angry you were that you had fought so hard in 2017 and 2018, only to be told it was back.
Thanks to the research by NBCF, you have continued to not only survive, but thrive and live to see Emmerson become a teenager. You were there for his first day of kindy, you were there to watch him play sport on Saturdays, you were there to see him make mistakes, learn from them, guide him, and love him. You are a strong woman, you are loved, and you have so much more to give to this world. You are still here. For this I am forever grateful and can’t wait to LIVE to see what another 10 years of love and happiness will bring.
