The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is proud to be investing $7.9 million into nine breast cancer research projects that have a clear line of sight to achieve NBCF’S vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
The researchers to receive a Research Project Grant in 2025 include:
- Dr Joanna Achinger-Kawecka
- Associate Professor Paul Beavis
- Associate Professor Kara Britt
- Professor Geoffrey Lindeman
- Professor Christina Mitchell
- Professor Scott Mueller
- Professor Andrew Scott
- Professor Rik Thompson
- Dr Ajithkumar Vasanthakumar
Two researchers are first-time recipients of an NBCF grant.
Research Project Grants provide essential support for investigator-initiated research projects which are critical to building Australia’s breast cancer research pipeline and addressing critical research questions.
These Research Project Grants form part of NBCFs Pink Horizon Research Strategy which will see investment of up to $125 million over five years. Our pioneering research strategy supports a diverse yet connected portfolio of research at a scale of investment that matches the boldness of our vision.
Each research project grant aligns with one or more of NBCF’s four Pink Horizon Research Strategy objectives – how to prevent breast cancer through precision prevention, how to detect breast cancer as early as possible and before it progresses, how to stop the progression and recurrence of breast cancer and, how to treat hard-to-treat and metastatic breast cancer – research that ultimately saves lives.
As a completely community-funded organisation this research is only possible due to the generosity of the Australian public and our partners. If you would like to support future breast cancer research donate today.
