JOB TITLE: Social Media Specialist
REPORTING TO: Acting Head of Marketing
HOURS: Full time, Hybrid
LOCATION: Sydney Office
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Social Media Specialist is a critical part of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) marketing team and is responsible for leading and executing key engagement activities on social media that reinforce NBCF’s position as one of Australia’s most trusted charities and drives us towards our vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
We are searching for a passionate Social Media Specialist that lives and breathes social media and will be responsible for the creation, scheduling, moderation and reporting of on-trend organic and paid content for different audiences across multiple social channels. This role will play an integral part in achieving reach and engagement KPI’s and driving paid social efficiencies across the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
This role will be in the marketing team however will work closely with NBCF fundraising teams and supporting social agencies.
SOCIAL MEDIA – ORGANIC:
• Development of an owned social media approach to position NBCF as a thought-leader in breast cancer research
• Develop and enforce social media channel strategies including channel launches, to ensure diversification of social presence
• Produce on-trend and fit-for-format social content that maximises social media reach and engagement per channel
• Integrate content publishing needs from multiple teams into a cohesive organisation-wide social approach and provide social counsel when required
• Moderate NBCF social media channels day-to-day and maintain approved key messages for use across the organisation
• Produce monthly reports of social media channel performance and present back to the organisation quarterly on key outtakes
SOCIAL MEDIA – PAID:
• Unify multiple paid social media agencies on a cohesive organisation-wide approach to avoid audience cannibalisation across campaigns running in tandem
• Develop and manage paid social media campaigns across multiple platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok)
• Set up, monitor, and optimize paid ads to ensure performance aligns with business goals (e.g., ROAS, CPA, CTR)
• Analyse campaign performance and generate reports to measure effectiveness and ROI
• Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively to maximize campaign performance
• Conduct A/B testing to optimise ad copy, visuals, and targeting strategies.
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES:
• Develop a strategy for the online merchandise store and manage sales / fulfilment, including paid advertising approach
• Manage NBCF’s national Community Ambassador program (individuals with lived experience with breast cancer) including fulfilling speaking requests for third party events
• Manage and fulfill volunteer requests for NBCF third party events
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS
• 3-5 years’ experience in organic and paid social content creation with proficiency in platforms E.g. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube
• Experience with social media advertising platforms e.g. Facebook Ads Specialist, LinkedIn Campaign Specialist
• Strong customer service ethic and experience in moderation, using social media management tools (Hootsuite)
• Analytical skills to interpret social media metrics and adjust strategies accordingly
• Strong communication skills and the ability to express the organisation’s social direction to various internal teams and external stakeholders with different fluency levels, and rally ongoing alignment
• Time management skills to handle multiple campaigns and projects simultaneously
• Solution and results orientated with high attention to detail and drive for quality
QUALIFICATIONS
• Tertiary qualification in relevant subject area
• Strong computer literacy of MS Office applications
• Photo editing in Adobe Photoshop or experience using Canva is a bonus
