PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Social Media Specialist is a key member of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) marketing team and is responsible for leading and executing key engagement activities on social media that reinforce NBCF’s position as one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisation funding world-class breast cancer research towards our vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
We are searching for a passionate Social Media Specialist to help strengthen NBCF’s reputation as a trusted leader in breast cancer research by delivering innovative and fit-for-format social media content and campaigns. Through strategic content creation, proactive moderation, and co-ordinating performance-driven paid activity across the organisation, the Social Media Specialist drives awareness, engagement and support for NBCF’s vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
This role will play an integral part in achieving reach and engagement KPI’s and driving paid social efficiencies across the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
This role will be in the marketing team however will work closely with NBCF fundraising teams and supporting social agencies.
Social Media- Organic
- Development of an owned social media approach to position NBCF as a thought-leader in breast cancer research
- Develop, implement and optimise social media channel strategies to ensure diversification of social presence
- Manage NBCF’s monthly organic social media calendar, including content creation, scheduling and moderation, ensuring a consistent and always-on presence.
- Produce on-trend, platform-first content that maximises reach and engagement across channels.
- Integrate content publishing needs from multiple teams into a cohesive organisation-wide social approach and provide social counsel when required
- Moderate NBCF social media channels day-to-day, fostering meaningful engagement while using and keeping approved messaging and response frameworks up to date.
- Produce monthly reports of social media channel performance and present back to the organisation quarterly on key outtakes
Social Media - Paid
- Unify multiple paid social media agencies on a cohesive organisation-wide approach to avoid audience cannibalisation across campaigns running in tandem
- Co-ordinating internal teams and priorities across our social media channels.
- Develop and manage paid social media campaigns across multiple platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
- Set up, monitor, and optimize paid ads to ensure performance aligns with business goals (e.g., ROAS, CPA, CTR)
- Analyse campaign performance and generate reports to measure effectiveness and ROI
- Liaise with Meta reps to stay informed on best practice and account performance
- Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively to maximize campaign performance
Advertising
- Support the planning and execution of paid advertorials or sponsorship packages
- Co-ordinate organisation-wide advertising activity, including Google Ads, PMAX and other digital channels
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to co-ordinate creative assets, review media plans, and track campaign performance driving paid efficiencies across the organisation.
E-Commerce Store
- Oversee NBCF’s online merchandise store including sales tracking, fulfilment coordination and paid advertising approach
- Review NBCF’s online merchandise store from fulfillment and logistics to product range and user experience.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, digital media or a related discipline.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and social media management platforms.
- 3–5 years’ experience managing organic and paid social media for brands or organisations.
- Demonstrated experience creating platform‑first content across key social channels including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Proven experience planning, delivering and optimising paid social campaigns using platforms such as Meta Ads Manager.
- Experience working with social media agencies, media partners or platform representatives to improve performance and efficiencies.
- Experience managing social media moderation, community management and customer‑focused engagement.
- Experience analysing social media and paid campaign performance to inform optimisation and reporting.
- Experience coordinating multiple campaigns, stakeholders and priorities across an organisation.
- Desirable: experience using creative tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Canva or similar.
- Desirable: experience working in the not‑for‑profit, health or purpose‑driven sector.
