When Vesna was diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant with her daughter Amelie, swimming became an important part of her recovery. Vesna later faced a second breast cancer diagnosis when Amelie was just two years old.

After surgery, swimming helped Vesna rebuild her strength and confidence. Over the years, it also became something she shared with her daughter.
“My mum tells me stories about how she used to swim when she was pregnant with me and recovering from breast cancer treatment,” says Amelie.
Inspired by her mum’s experience, Amelie joined NBCF’s Swim for Breast Cancer Challenge alongside her.
“I know how hard it is for people who have breast cancer because my mum has been through it.”

Together, Vesna and Amelie turned something they love into support for breast cancer research, helping create hope for other families like theirs.
Thank you to Vesna and Amelie, and to every fundraiser taking on challenges like Swim for Breast Cancer. Your dedication, passion and support are helping create a brighter future for everyone affected by breast cancer.
