Why Rachel is helping shape a future beyond breast cancer?

“Breast cancer has touched my family in profound ways. My mother, aunt and grandmother were all diagnosed with the disease, and I saw firsthand the impact it had on them and those who loved them.”

Rachel’s beloved aunt, Claire, was diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time, four years after her initial diagnosis. By then, the cancer had spread extensively to her liver, and tragically, Claire passed away just three months later.

These experiences left a lasting impression on Rachel and shaped the way she thinks about the future.

As a science teacher with a background in scientific research, Rachel has always valued curiosity, discovery and the search for answers. But her connection to breast cancer goes far beyond science. It is deeply personal, rooted in the people she loves and the challenges her family has faced.

Witnessing the impact of breast cancer firsthand strengthened her belief in the importance of research and the hope it brings to those affected by the disease.

“If all Australians left even just 1% of their estate to charity in their Will, just think what could be achieved.”

Rachel knows she cannot change what her family has been through. But she believes each of us can play a small part in shaping what comes next. Together, through collective generosity, we can help create a future with better outcomes for everyone affected by breast cancer.
