Our Research Projects
2018 Research Projects
This year we have continued to fund innovative projects to improve early detection, treatment and quality of life for breast cancer patients. The 20 new projects we are funding are exploring innovative and promising areas of research. This includes personalised immunotherapies for hard to treat breast cancers, targeted treatment delivery systems and predictive tests for metastatic breast cancer.
In total, since 1994, NBCF has awarded more than $149 million to around 489 Australian-based research projects to improve the health and well-being of those affected by breast cancer. During that time the 5-year survival for breast cancer has improved from 76% to 90%. However, there is still much work to be done before we reach our goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
